Experience

I recently joined Master of Engineering program in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department at NUS. I will be graduating in 2014. I am of Indian nationality and just completed my Bachelors degree in chemical engineering in June 2012 with honours. During my Bachelors degree in India, I was very active in co-curricular activities. I was a member of Leo Club which is the student wing of Lions International, a well known social service organization. I volunteered to teach in government schools facing scarcity of teachers. For four years, I taught English, Hindi, Maths and Science to various age group of students (ranging from 8 to 15 year old). I also used to give free private tuitions to slum children of nearly the same age group. I could teach them only during weekends as I had classes for the rest of the week, but I kept close tab of the development of each student. Each student's progress and improvement felt like an award and I fell in love with teaching. As I am vying to fulfill my goal of becoming a professor some day (I plan to do PhD after my Masters), I would very much like to spend my spare time pursuing a part-time teaching job.
My education has been in Indian schools where grading system is different. I scored 94% in my level 10 exam (age 15; Maths 98%, Science 98% and English 85%; year 2005). I scored 82.1% in level 12 (age 17; English 77%, Maths 87.5%, Physics 88.5%, Chemistry 83.5%; year 2007). I got 8.45 out of 10 during B.Tech (year 2012). Also, I scored 328/340 in Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and 116/120 in TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language).

Commitment

I can start working right away. I am willing to work on Wednesday, Thursday and even on weekends. The rest of the days I have classes. I have a one month vacation in December during which time I will be totally free. From the next semester, i.e., January 2013, I will have only one class in a week and thus will have more time to spare.
