Experience

I am an MOE Teaching Scholar reading BA (Literature) from NUS.
I have helped my fellow schoolmates with English Literature in school, and am currently waiting to enter university to major in English Literature. As a recent A-Level graduate, I am familiar with the most current A-Level Literature syllabus, and will hence be able to help students improve on their work and deliver what examiners want.
I received an A for English Literature during the A Levels, and was also the top student for that subject in my junior college. I will be able to show certificates detailing my achievements upon request.
As Literature is a subject that requires critical and flexible thinking skills, students should be receptive to different ideas so that the text at hand can be fully critiqued from various viewpoints. Hence, I would encourage students to seek tuition in a group, as discussions will make the sessions more fruitful.
I will also need samples of the student's writing so that I can pick out mistakes that has made his or her writing less effective. Each session will be specially tailored to suit every student's learning needs.
Tutoring should be about effective teaching and meaningful learning, and I believe I will be able to deliver just that. Be rest assured that learning will be fun and interesting!

Commitment

I will be entering university in August, so tutoring sessions might have to be switched to different dates and timeslots.

Teaching math is interesting when I try to explain the concepts to the tutees. Explaining the concept behind the question is never easy but it will be if the students are exposed to real life examples. In addition, I will get the student to answer my question to serve as an aid in their thinking, so that they will understand it better.

Commitment

I can start asap and will be able to commit myself until as long as the parent prefer. However, during my exams period (end Apr and end Nov) I might need to stop the lessons for as long as 2 weeks, but it can be arranged.

My name is Nandy in short. I am a diploma graduate in Electronics, Computer and Communications engineering. I have been tutoring since 15 years old as a part time tutor for primary school kids. But for the past three years, I have committed myself with intensive PSLE tuitions and other primary school projects.
I love teaching and interacting with kids who have problems especially in language and Mathematics. My primary school kid was in EM3 and repeating the second year. After intensive and strict coaching, he improved his grades during mid-year from fail to borderline pass. Eventually, he graded above 60 for his finals and made it to his desired secondary school in normal stream.
I love to teach in a fun way. At the same time, I do not tolerate laziness. I ensure the homework and revision gets done. I balance being strict and fun during lessons as different children have different methods of absorbing what is taught during tuition.
Most of my kids are from Primary 3 to Primary 6. I prefer the primary school students because I believe that is the stage where their foundation is being established. I believe that starting proper tuition during their primary school days actually provides them discipline naturally when they enter secondary school. Lastly, I would like to say that no kid is stupid. The reason a kid needs a personal tutor is to buck him up from laziness or really help him out with his subjects and improve his grades.
