I taught for 25 years in the Ministry of Education, Singapore, in the following schools: Catholic High School, St Michael’s School, St Anthony’s School and Ai Tong School. Such a range of schools had exposed me to different school cultures and pedagogical practices. Indeed, professional growth cannot dispense with this rotation to ensure a non-deadwood-out-of-comfort-zone spirit.
Prior to joining teaching, I worked in the industrial sales and book retail sectors and gained invaluable people skills there. I held the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Reserves; I was awarded the Most Dedicated NCO Award twice and was Acting Company Sergeant Major during NS.
I served in the National Cadet Corps (Sea Unit), helping secondary school pupils in their character development and honing their leadership qualities. I served too as HOD (PE and Aesthetics), English, Science and Discipline Master at different times on the administrative front as obligations to contribute more. I am also a qualified basketball coach.
Such a spectrum of roles had given me much insight and perspective, and improved my skills in motivating people, spurring both personal and professional growths.

I currently help Mind Champs where I teach Pr 5/PSLE English.
I am free-lancing this year, teaching English/ Creative Writing at various centres.
(I am on a sabbatical this year to catch up on my self development)
I teach too adhoc short courses and workshops( Creative Writing, Comprehension, Math Olympiad, Study Skills, Learning Styles Profiling and Public Speaking, Speech and drama) in MOE schools.
Finally, I also taught EFL to Taiwanese students on two mornings earlier this year. I feel certain TESOL methods and activities are relevant to our local students, especially the song and conversational activities.
