<p>I am Rose and I look forward to working with your child in Mathematics. I have always enjoyed this subject and so it is easy to share this approach with them. It helps to overcome their fear and anxiety, and ultimately will do well for this subject. Math topics are like teammates in sports relay team. Faster runners must run their fastest for the team depends on them to secure the finishing line; slower runners must try to run as fast as they can, so that they too can contribute to the winning. <br> And so, an examination paper is like a relay team too; it is made up of different sections. These sections represent different runners; each will play their special part in scoring marks for the overall examination grade. The paper can be further dissected into strengths and weakness according to each individual student’s capability, so that he or she can manage each section with confidence, maximizing marks while minimizing errors. In addition, extra care and attention are given to students who may be cramping last minute preparations for their major examinations like PSLE, GCE ‘N’ and ‘O’ levels. As time is of critical essence for these teenagers, I zoom straight into their strengths and weaknesses. <br> I teach them to identify the common root of their mistakes in any examination paper: was error due to lack of understanding of concepts OR simply costly carelessness. I plan with each of them very specific strategies to reinforce strong areas so as to maximize examination scores, while strengthening weaker areas so as to gain additional marks to stretch the final score line. <br> </p>
