<p>I developed the interest to provide tuition lessons when I was pursuing my diploma in Republic Polytechnic. I have always wanted to be a teacher after I graduated from my polytechnic hence I took a small initiative to find out if I really would like to be in the teaching industry.<br> I gave tuition service back in early 2010. I taught my neighbor's daughter who was in her primary four and was taking her preliminary examination. Her initial result for her Mathematics was grade 4 and that was her mother's main concern. It didn't took me long enough to realise that this is what I really want to do. As I used to be in that position where I gave up on my studies as I thought I could never make it. However, I was lucky that my teacher has never gave up on me. That motivated me to change my perception on education, failing, passing and try again. I conduct my tuition lessons thrice a week with her as she stayed nearby. With a duration between 2- 3 hours per lesson. I started by doing revision on primary 3 topics and let her practice several questions on the assessment books as well as the Mathematics textbook questions. For the questions that she got wrong, I would go through with her and point out to her on her mistakes. After which, at times I would ask her to re-write the questions on her exercise books and re- do it. This is to allow her to understand the concept and method which I had explained to her. With this too she could catch up and understand certain basic concepts which she can apply for the primary four topics. In between I would also revised with her the topics that she was currently learning in school. By the end of the year, she managed to score a band 2 grade for her Mathematics. As long as an improvement for her other subjects such as English and Malay Language. <br> In 2011, I was sent out for my internship thus I didn't provide any tuition service. I resume tutoring in 2012 which was my final year of polytechnic. After I graduated, I started working with Ascott Management however I still continue tutoring till the end of the year when she finished her PSLE. It was a frightening moment for me as I was given the responsibility to assist and help her with her education. At that point of time, I understood how our teachers must have felt when we were their students who had to take a major examination. Fortunately, she passed her PSLE and made tremendous improvements. It feels like I have seen her from the girl who did not want to study to a girl who wants to make everyone proud of her with her studies. <br> Altogether, that 2 years of tutoring has really made me realised how much I badly want to nurture and help as many kids as possible. </p>

<p>Currently I'm working full time as a resident service associate and planning to resign from my current position by the end of this year, December 2013. This is to allow me to have more times to focus on tutoring and if I were selected to study as a certified teacher in NIE, this would definitely aid me in my future career. <br> <br> For now I can commit and plan out my tuition days with the parents according to my rosters and it is negotiable. From my previous experience, I was able to commit my time to my tutee. Although I am working on shifts, I will make sure that for the week I will slot out my time to attend to my tutee. <br> <br> Whenever I work on morning shifts, I will provide tuition in the afternoon or if I work in the afternoon, I will provide tuition in the morning or on my off days. It is negotiable according to the tutee remedial/ co-curriculum lessons. </p>
