Mathematics has been my favourite subject. I loved solving challenging Maths problems using different methods. I have been teaching Mathematics for 4 years and I find joy in imparting my Mathematical knowledge to students. The challenge in mathematics is the need to think out of the box and deploy different teaching methodologies to guide less intellectually inclined students in understanding Mathematics concept. For an instance, it is vital for primary school students to instill the habit of drawing bar model. From my experience, most of them would detest drawing them. I believe there are some ways to develop their new-found interest in problem-solving techniques.

Generally, younger students in Singapore especially at primary level are introvert in expressing their doubts in certain topics. During tutoring session, it is important to make them feel at ease with me and I always make it a point to encourage them to speak up whenever they have any doubts in any topics as I believe that education is a two way process. Whenever they submit their homework, I would make it an extra effort to scrutinize their working to make sure that they get their concept right. Sometimes, they happen to get their answers right but their working steps do not make sense. Nearer to their examinations, I would summarise all the weaker points that I discover while marking their homeworks or their mock exam papers and go through these points with students at least twice. It is important for students to remember their mistakes and what they should do to avoid making the same thing again.
