I have been teaching one student before for 2 years. From primary 5 to 6.
In primary 5 my student used to get 14/100 for his exams. Once I started coaching him he improved and got around 60 plus for mid year exams and when it came to end of year exam he got 70 plus for maths. He improved drastically. In primary 6 the student conitnued working very hard and scored A in maths, B for science and english. He entered the express stream.

I taught my student according to his learning learning styles strategies,
All students are either auditory learners, visual learners or kinesthetic learners.
Since my student was a visual learner, I would buy a rainbow of pens and highlighters. I would use different colours for different concepts and I would highlight important passages and points in standout shades.
Before teaching my student a science chapter and before I read a passage from a textbook, I would make my student look at the illustrations to get an idea of the topic. While teaching the chapter to my student, I would request my student to review the graphics to help remember key concepts.
I would also buy flashcards for my student to help memorize facts.
I would also request my student to take notes whenever I say any important points.
After every 4 lessons I would give my student a short quiz and whenever my student did very well for that quiz I would reward him with a chocolate or sweet.
