I am applying to NUS chemical Engineering.
I have been a peer tutor for my friends throughout my time in Secondary school and Junior College for both Math and Sciences. I once helped my friend prepare for his Mathematics and Chemistry competency test in sec 3 and his grades improved significantly for both subjects and he even managed to pass his Mathematics competency test. My method of studying is to first understand the concept and further reinforce the foundation through practices and links that can be established through pro-active thinking. It has helped me throughout my education and i believe it will help my tutees. I will be covering the content, give real-world examples relevant to the subject taught as i believe ' Interest ' is the best motivation one can have, and also expose the tutee to various types of question that can be asked.

I am very keen in being part of the teaching industry.
I have actively pursued a teaching programme in my co-curricular activity to hone my skills as an educator I still vividly remember that there was once when my partner and I were tutoring a kindergarten girl in my pride subject Chinese, she was reluctant and lazy towards learning. My partner tried persuading her but she refused. Eventually, my partner gave up, deterred by the challenge but I preserved. By engaging in a different approach, I asked her to sit beside me as I looked through her past assignment. I firstly praised her for all the questions that she had gotten correct and the beautiful colouring that she did. Then, I slowly guide her to do her corrections and eventually I made her do her homework. I strongly feel that children like to be praised and are wiling to learn if I am patient. Their smiles when they understood my teaching really brighten up my day.
After the first few sessions with these children, I have truly fell in love with educating the young and they have certainly too enjoyed my presence.
Having this strong sense of direction for my future I have geared my education and tried several methods of studying so as to facilitate my teaching in the future. Besides teaching the children in my CCA, I also tutor my niece, who is a lower primary school student, during her holidays. She is an independent learner, catering to her learning style I have adjusted my teaching accordingly, guiding her when necessary. I am a helpful friend that is sensitive to the needs of others, adapting to different situations. After tutoring, I have grown in my patience, love for children and more confident. I am able to impart my pool of knowledge especially in the areas of Chinese and Economics to the younger generation, it really delights and assures me that this is the career for me.
