Experience

I have been teaching Sec 4 Maths, Physics and Chemistry for 2 years. Last year, my sec 4 physics student improved from a B4 to an A1. My Maths student scored A1 for both A and E Maths. My Chemistry student got an A2, an improvement from B4.
My JC student scored an A for his H2 maths while by H1 math student also scored an A.
I am currently tutoring sec 3 and 4 maths and physics as well as JC Maths.

Commitment

1) Currently teaching part time group tutoring. Her students are aged between 4 to 15 years old.
2) Her students have definitely shown improvements under her tutelage. One of her biggest achievement is one of her student from Tanglin Trust School went from the lowest grades to achieving the highest mark at the end of year oratory exams. Another of her express secondary tutee went from a 3/10 to a 7-8/10. Testimonials available upon request
3) Her teaching style: Breaking down concepts into small bite-sized components to make them easier to understand for students.
4) She have taken psychology courses in Grade 12 at her high school (Singapore American School). She scored A for the psychology courses and hence is very competent in the subject matter. She is confident of her abilities to teach this subject.

Hi, I am currently an undergraduate at NTU studying English Literature. I was born in the United States and have lived there for the first 10 years of my life. After moving to Singapore, I studied at the Singapore American School (SAS) and graduated from there.
While at SAS, I have helped many students in Advanced Placement (AP) Music Theory, a subject I have scored A and A+ grades in and securing all distinctions in the AP Exam. As I have a heart to help other students who are struggling, I remember helping a student move from a C to a B and another student move from a B to an A. As for English Literature--another one of my best subjects--my classmates have always trusted me to proofread and edit their drafts. I have also scored straight A and A+ grades in high school literature.
I can speak both English and Japanese.
I also have an ABRSM Grade 8 distinction in practical piano and a Grade 5 distinction in music theory.
I was chosen to play piano for the NTU Convocation Dinner Ceremony last year, and I was featured in the Erie Times Newspaper for winning piano competitions as a child. I am currently working towards a public piano concert in Singapore.
Although I work hard, I always make time for recreation. My favorite hobbies are arts and crafts, playing the piano, writing creatively, helping out at church, swimming, and watching my favorite comedy show: The Big Bang Theory!
At this point of my life, I would like to use this passion to help students in Singapore. I always believe in having a purpose for learning, so my teaching methods involve practical application of concepts learned into real life. Of course, I also believe in injecting fun into learning! Last summer, I tutored two Japanese kindergarten students English, and by using pictures and games to teach them, the kids were always extremely excited for tuition. I myself had such a blast as well, so I want to teach again!

Commitment

I can start ASAP and but cannot teach on Mondays and Tuesdays due to all-day classes in university. Also, from June 16 to 20th, I cannot teach due to final examinations. After June 20, I can start teaching on Mondays and Tuesdays as well as classes will be over by then.

Experience

I do not have any formal experience in teaching, but I have tutored my cousins in English and they have shown improvement in their grades. I believe that the keys to success are constant practice and revision, not being afraid to ask questions when you are unsure, and having confidence in oneself.
