Experience

I have about 10 years of continuous experience giving home tuition. My specialised area is in mathematics and physics and I take students from Sec 1 to JC2. I can also teach other science subjects at GCE O level and A level such as biology etc as mentioned in my current application.
I taught students from ACJC and PJC, and an IP student from RVHS.
Throughout my 10 years of experience, I learnt that passion, patience, affirmation and encouragement are the quality of a good tutor, who can help students to improve tremendously, apart from the relevant grades that a tutor has obtained in his past examinations. I hope that I will be able to continue teaching and impacting students in future generations so that they will learn the subjects that I tutored for long term use.
As a PhD student myself now, I have also experience in tutoring university undergraduates in their modules, lab and final year project which is a major component in final year curriculum of mechanical engineering. Yes, My major is in Mechanical Engineering. Hence I would be able to tutor
- Year 1-2: Engineering physics and math modules (university)
- Engineering physics and math modules (polytechnics)
Besides engineering as major, I have taken a minor in Physics from the School of Physical, Mathematical Sciences in NTU, Singapore. My score for all the physics minor modules are A and A+ (highest grade conferred). Hence I would be happy to tutor any year 1 Physics Major in the modules:
- Fields and oscillations
- Waves and optics
- Quantum Mechanics 1

Experience

I was a part-time tutor for 2 years when I was studying in polytechnic. I taught students at Primary level such as English, Maths & Science. I had a student who was supposed to be sitting for his PSLE that year. He lacked the confidence every time he sat for his semester exams although he studied hard. He passed his exams but unsatisfactorily. However, he managed to get good grades for his PSLE & enter the Secondary School of his choice! Thus, I believed that tutoring is not only teaching what is inside the book but a tutor should understand the child & act as a motivator to him/her as well.
Normally, I will teach based on the school's curriculum (per topics). We will use some practice/assessment books & past year exam papers. If students have problems with their school homework, I will set aside about 10-20 minutes to go through the problems with them before we start our lesson. I will also set some papers for them to practise if they are still weak in a particular topic & surprise tests to see whether they have been revising on their own & that they do not fall off track.
If students are still weak in a particular topic, I will ensure that they get extra practices to help them understand the topic better. Last but not least, there will be tuition homework for the students to be completed during the weekend before the first lesson of the following week starts.

I can start immediately from Monday to Thursday only.
